Plantopedia collects only what is necessary to provide its features: • Photos you take or upload for plant identification — sent to our AI server for processing and not stored after the response is returned. • Location data (GPS coordinates) — only when you explicitly use the Foraging Spots or GPS harvest features. Stored locally on your device only. • App usage data — stored entirely on your device (favorites, journal entries, scan history, treatment logs, quiz progress). Never uploaded to our servers. • Subscription status — managed by RevenueCat. We receive confirmation of your subscription tier but not your payment details.
• Plant photos are sent to OpenAI's API for identification. Photos are not retained by Plantopedia servers. • Location coordinates are used solely to tag journal entries and foraging spots. They never leave your device. • All personal plant data lives exclusively on your device.
• OpenAI — for plant identification via GPT-4o Vision. Subject to OpenAI's Privacy Policy. • RevenueCat — for managing in-app subscriptions. Subject to RevenueCat's Privacy Policy. • Expo (by Expo Inc.) — the app runtime framework. No personal data is collected by Expo in production builds.
All user-generated data is stored locally on your device using React Native AsyncStorage. This data does not leave your device except as described above. We do not operate user accounts. There is no registration, no cloud sync, and no server-side database storing your personal information.
Camera and photo library access is used exclusively for plant identification and health diagnosis. Photos are processed in real time and are not stored, logged, or shared beyond what is required to return the identification result.
Location access is optional and only requested when you use the GPS harvest feature in the Herbalist's Journal or the Foraging Spots screen. Location data is stored locally on your device only and is never transmitted to our servers.
Plantopedia is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Because we do not store personal data on our servers, you have full control at all times. You can delete all scan history, journal entries, and treatment logs from within the app. Uninstalling removes all locally stored data.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected with an updated "Last Updated" date.
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy, please contact us through the app store listing.
